This thesis entitled “Improving Students’ Writing Narrative Text by Using Students’ Personal Experience (A Collaborative Classroom Action Research to the First Year Students of SMA Negeri 1 Gandapura).From the title above, the researcher put two problems of this research with the questions; first, how is the implementation of students’ personal experience? Second, how do the students’ respond to the implementation of students’ personal experience in writing narrative text? The purposes of the research are: to know how is the implementation of students’ personal experience in improving students’ writing text and to know how is the students’ response to the implementation of students’ personal experience in writing narrative text.  To answer the research questions, the researcher used collaborative classroom action research as the research methodology. Therefore, the researcher did collaboration with English teacher to do the research. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Gandapura. The students of class X IPA 4 were chosen as subject of the research. This class consisted of twenty two students. In this case, qualitative and quantitative research methodology was combined by the researcher. Based on qualitative research methodology, the researcher used test, observation form, to collect data, to learn, and write down the important things from teachers’ and students’ activities in the classroom. Based on the quantitative research methodology, the researcher and teacher gave some tests to analyzed data to got the means score of the students through the formula. Test in cycle 1 and test in cycle 2 were given to know how far the personal’s experience could improve students’ ability in writing. The researcher and teacher got that the mean score of students’ of test in cycle 1 was 61, 45 and test in cycle 2 was 73.45. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the personal’s experience could improve students’ achievement in writing skill, and the personal’s experience could improve the students’ motivation in learning writing skill, and also brings the new situations for the students to be active in learning writing in the classroom
